World Panorama
So the World Panorama is here, but what about - the world itself? A rhetorical question, one would say, with a slight fatalistic undertone? We can only imagine what Schopenhauer, Cioran or Orwell would say to this!
Judging by what can be seen in the film by the French group of authors after which this short text is titled, the world is nod doing quite well, and it seems that the time has come to say goodbye to it? However, one hug at the end of the film is also a glimmer of hope, a quiet echo of the old Latin saying Amor vincit onia, about invincible love.
Eight carefully selected films make up this year's World Panorama, Animanima's program of works that are screened out of competition. Their authors bring stories about small and big events, and through their eyes we can look at this world of ours and try to understand it, as well as our place in it. When you leave the screening room, remember the words of the master of wacky comedy, Groucho Marx: “I, not events, have the power to make me happy or unhappy today. I can choose which it shall be. Yesterday is dead, tomorrow hasn't arrived yet. I have just one day, today, and I'm going to be happy in it.”
